Upcoming Events

Science Open House (One)

Sunday June 14th / 5 – 7:30pm

Join us at the Maxwell-Potter Conservancy in Baraboo to learn about some of the species we encounter in the Baraboo Hills – from songbirds, to wildflowers, to turkey vultures – and how we study them. You’ll be able to explore the Baraboo Arboretum on a guided nature walk, listen to soundscapes from various ecosystems, or try your hand at sketching and journaling about your observations.

This event is free and open to the public, and families are especially welcome. No need to RSVP! Reach out with questions: bhrcollective@gmail.com

Directions: Parking lot is on Hill Street across from the Liston Dog Park, and we will be set up in the grass near the playground.

Science Open House (Two)

Saturday July 18th / 7-10 am

Come explore the Otter Creek gorge with us (along Stone’s Pocket Road in Baxter’s Hollow) and learn about our research along the way. We will be leading guided hikes up to one of our Soundscape Baselines sites, observing and banding birds, and searching for aquatic species in Otter Creek.

This event is free and open to the public, and families are especially welcome. No need to RSVP! Reach out with questions: bhrcollective@gmail.com

Directions: Baxter’s Hollow Preserve is owned and managed by The Nature Conservancy. There is a gravel parking lot on the right side of Stone’s Pocket Road (here), and you can walk down the road from there. We will be set up near the first bridge at the bottom of the hill, about a quarter mile away from the parking area.
